To continue our theme of camping by volcanoes this summer...we spent three days along beautiful Juniper Lake with a view of Lassen Peak. The 1917 eruption at Lassen was the last to occur in the Cascade Range before Mount St. Helens erupted in 1980.
We swam at least 3 times a day between our hiking and biking adventures.
Notice who volunteered to carry the pack with water and snacks up to Crystal Lake.
In 1915, when my grandpa was 5 years old, his family took their new car on a trip to California. He described a volcano that they passed - close enough to see the smoke coming from the crater. It was Mt. Lassen!
