Newberry National Volcanic Monument

Our hike to Paulina Creek Falls was one of the really fun adventures we had camping 3 days along East Lake inside Newberry Crater. The geology of the area was fascinating!

The view of the sunset and the lake from our campsite was breathtaking!

We had a blast swimming and using our raft out on the lake.
Karen is getting much better with her balance bike!
The 'Big Obsidian Flow' was incredible! We've never seen so much obsidian in one place. There was also lots of pumice along the beaches inside the crater.

Burney Falls and Grandpa's Patchwork Cabin

We had a wonderful visit with Grandpa Mike and Grandma Donna. We hiked to Burney Falls and stayed at what they call their "patchwork" cabin. The cabin is very rustic, remote, and peaceful. We loved it! Our parents hadn't been there in 15 years.

Family Reunion in Davis

We had a wonderful visit with extended family at the Wagner/Kerr Reunion (on grandma Karen's side of the family). Lil' Karen made a special connection with her great-great aunt Rosie (97 years old).

We rode in a children's parade on the Fourth of July in downtown Davis.

Lassen Volcanic National Park

To continue our theme of camping by volcanoes this summer...we spent three days along beautiful Juniper Lake with a view of Lassen Peak. The 1917 eruption at Lassen was the last to occur in the Cascade Range before Mount St. Helens erupted in 1980.

We swam at least 3 times a day between our hiking and biking adventures.

Notice who volunteered to carry the pack with water and snacks up to Crystal Lake.
