Karen stands on her own!

This past week I learned how to stand all by myself. It's been SO EXCITING for our household! Mama has captured me practicing my newest skill over and over again. I still haven't taken my first steps...but I'm thinking about it.

Conference Track & Field Championships

We had a full three days in Santa Barbara this past weekend for our conference track & field championships. My friend Jaden and I enjoyed watching all the events from the fence line.
We also enjoyed "playing the drums" on the food cooler by our team tent.
My brother was exhausted the first day and slept almost 3 hours in the team tent. All the talking and cheering from our athletes didn't seem to bother his sleep.
I helped papa talk to his athletes.
My mama just missed me standing unassisted in this picture. After the meet was over...our team cheered wildly for me when I successfully stood all by myself!

Vertical Sleeping

My papa checks on me everynight before he goes to bed. Last night at 11:30 p.m. he found me sleeping like this so he had to take a picture.

Beginning Rocketry

A highlight of my weekend was learning how to build a model rocket with my papa and launching it alongside other novice rocketeers.
I named my sleek yellow rocket (second from the right) Buster.
Three, two, one....blast off!
It took us awhile to retrieve our rocket because it went so high...landing way out in this field!

Long-Awaited Reunion

My good friend Daniel moved 45 minutes away last December...so we were SUPER excited that our mom's arranged a play date today! We had so much fun climbing trees, 'fishing' in the creek and admiring the new ducklings!

Adventures of Karen

In recent weeks, my increased mobility has kept my parents on their toes! I climb all sorts of furniture including chairs, step stools and small tables.
My parents have safety gates all over the place since we have so many stairs. I don't mind, though, I use them to help me cruise.

While the athletes run intervals on the track, I practice walking with my lion. I get in a lot more steps at our track facility than in our living room.

Grandpa Mike recently got Holden this tricycle. Even though I can't reach the pedals yet, I've also really enjoyed riding it! Papa pushed me around the neighborhood for at least 45 minutes last night.
My mom admits she wanted a break for a few minutes from chasing me all over the house climbing furniture. I actually had a blast being "trapped" in the toy box...but it won't be long and I'll find a way to climb out of this too!

Legoland

I knew I liked Legos...but when my parents asked if I wanted to go to Legoland with some good friends visiting from out of state...I said "sure"...not really knowing how much fun it would be! I was tall enough to try most of the rides...even some roller coasters. I was very impressed by all the thousands of Lego bricks used to build just about anything.

Week of fun with Lassingers!

Our longtime friends, the Lassingers, from Stanwood, WA, stayed with us this past week. These pictures are just a glimpse of all the fun we had with their 2 oldest kids (Simeon and Anna).
