Biking and Camping on the OR Coast

Fort Stevens State Park was a great place for camping and lots of exploring on our bikes this past week. They have over 14 miles of bicycle/hiking trails.

We saw remnants of the historic military site.

We biked to see the remains of the Peter Iredale shipwreck.

We loved running up and down the sand dunes on the beach!

One of our favorite things to do camping is roast marshmallows and drink hot cocoa on the cold mornings.

 More biking!

We visited one of the freshwater lakes near the mouth of the Columbia.

Of course we had to visit the Tillamook Cheese factory and enjoy some ice cream!

The Oregon coast has so many neat beaches to explore. Our favorites have waterfalls, natural caves, and tide pools to explore.

Notice the bug net over my head. I was the only one to get any mosquito bites.

We had a blast exploring Fort Clatsop where Lewis and Clark stayed for 2 winters.

We learned what Lewis and Clark ate (mostly elk, some salmon, berries, roots, etc.).
They had a great interpretive center. My sister loves dogs...so she spent some extended time hugging the statue of Seaman.
We encountered some rain on our final day of camping but it didn't dampen our spirits. We had fun eating breakfast in the back of Papa's truck. We are so thankful for the great memories!

  5. I adore the pictures of Holden walking on the rocks by the sea and exploring the tide pools. Those are my favorite things to do at the beach, too!
