First Steps!

Today at the park, Mommy and Holden watched me take my first (unassisted) steps. When Papa came home, I was determined to show him my new skill!
After the first day, my record is 7 consecutive steps!

Parachute Man

Yesterday my mommy and I worked on a really fun project. We made a parachute man.
His first trial was inside from the stairwell landing.
Then I couldn't wait to try parachute man outside from our balcony.
This provided at least an hour of entertainment with no crash landings!

Awaiting babies from our newest neighbor

Holden recently spotted a new hummingbird nest on a tree right outside our front door. We've really enjoyed watching the mother bird sit on her two eggs (each the size of a small jelly bean) the past few days.
We've researched that the mother usually incubates her eggs 16 - 18 days. The babies are born with no feathers, dark skin, and closed eyes. The hummingbirds won't leave the nest until full grown. We'll keep you posted and try to take more pictures as we await the arrival of the babies!

Track & Field Dinner Awards Banquet

Tonight we attended our end-of-season track & field awards banquet at Concordia.
I (Karen) got to help Papa hand out awards to the athletes.
We'll miss our seniors...3 of the 4 pictured have qualified for the national championships the end of the month.
Holden and I stayed busy exploring the campus fountain.

The banquet was catered with yummy Mexican food. I pretty much cleaned my plate!
We had a great turn-out tonight...even during finals week. It was neat to see the student-athletes all dressed up. We had a special group this year!
